Celebrities like supermodel Giselle, quarterback Tom Brady and actor Matt Damon are all pushing Unreal Candy, a new product that carries claims that it's better for you than traditional candy.
The company claims it's reinvented candy without the junk like artificial colors and hydrogenated oils.
Consumer Reports conducted blind taste tests comparing Unreal Candy to iconic candies.
Unreal's candy-coated chocolates went up against plain milk chocolate M&Ms. Unreal's unusual color comes from beetroot, turmeric and purple cabbage juice.
Both were good, according to testers, but the M&Ms were sweeter.
Unreal's chocolate caramel nougat bar battled Milky Way. The peanut nougat bars took on Snickers, candy-coated chocolates with peanuts went up against Peanut M&Ms, and Unreal's peanut butter cups were compared to Reese's.
"In those categories, we found that Unreal's candies were good, but most weren't as flavorful," said Consumer Reports' Gayle Williams.
As for claims Unreal Candy is better for you, Consumer Reports found they have comparable calories and fat to their junk counterparts.
However, if you want to indulge in a treat and avoid artificial ingredients, Consumer Reports said Unreal candies could be worth a try.
