Police said the victim is a woman who has a professional relationship with Esparza and had been staying in his home while she was in town.

The woman called police after finding a small camera inside what appeared to be a speaker box in his bathroom.

SAPD spokesman Officer Matthew Porter said the victim made the discovery when she tried to plug her phone into the box, hoping to play music while she showered.

"As she investigated further, she noticed that it was a spy camera," Porter said. "She then took the SD card, put it in her computer and found images of herself."

Porter said in addition to whatever is on the camera's memory card, investigators found evidence in Esparza's home.

He said detectives planned to comb through all of that evidence. It is not clear yet whether there may be other victims, Porter said.

Esparza was taken into custody on a charge of improper photography.
