SAN ANTONIO – Cleanup crews at the Olmos Basin Golf course are working long and hard hours.
That's because heavy rains from Saturday flooded the entire golf course.
"The most important thing is get the debris off the fairways and you got branches you got trash - that's the main goal right now," Joe Baeza, a Pro Staff Member, said.
That goal seems out of reach for now, but slowly and surely it's getting back to normal.
Saturday's heavy rains flooded all 18 holes at the golf course. Holes 5 and 6 are still under water.
"As far as the greens and everything they're still very good, a little soggy right now but they're going to be OK," said Baeza.
On Saturday, a man who was stranded at a course restroom was rescued by emergency workers from the roof top.
In the past few days water just started to recede.
"Anything and everything that goes in a house or car ends up over here," Joe Estrada, a groundskeeper, said.
He couldn't believe what flood waters left behind.
"We found shopping carts a couple of car fenders a couple license plates, there's a mattress in the river in the back," said Estrada.
It's been 10 hour days for cleanup crews. They say frustration sets in when people think they're not working fast enough.
"It don't look like we've done much but we've done a lot already a lot of it has been cleared out," said Estrada.
‘It's not very comfortable going out there when you're up to your knees in mud so we're going to let it dry out, hopefully it won't rain anymore," said Baeza.
Without another big rainfall, the golf course should be back open by Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
