SAN ANTONIO – Neighbors in a Northeast San Antonio neighborhood are in disbelief after making a horrible discovery.
A man's cat was found late Saturday night, mutilated and hanging from a tree off of Braewick Road.
Ruben Garcia, the cat's owner, said he is just distraught and devastated after he found his Siamese cat gutted and hanging from his neighbor's tree.
"His tail had been chopped off," said Garcia. "And, who would reach that high? I have no idea. They would need a ladder or something."
Garcia said his mother's cat, "Prince," had been missing for three days when they noticed an awful smell coming from his neighbor's yard.
Garcia alerted his elderly neighbor's family members, who happened to be visiting Saturday night.
That's when Garcia said they found "Prince" hanging about 10 feet from the ground.
"I said, "You know what? There's a stench coming from the backyard," said Garcia, "and, that stench was our cat."
Deputies came out to the scene to take pictures of the cat, the jump rope that was tied around it and the mess left behind.
Garcia said "Prince" was a friendly cat and he can't imagine who would do this to him or why.
"I'm hoping that we catch whoever did this because that's the most sickening thing I have ever seen," Garcia said.
