Couple found dead in apparent murder-suicide in west San Antonio

Man, woman found with gunshot wounds inside apartment on Micron Drive

A man and a woman were found dead inside a West Side apartment Thursday night and San Antonio police are calling their deaths an apparent murder-suicide.

The couple was found with gunshot wounds around 11 p.m. at the Meadowood Apartments in the 8200 block of Micron Drive.

Police believe the man shot the woman, who was identified as 22-year-old Kaylla Brooke Rihn, then turned the gun on himself.

The man's identity had not been released.

Police said the he was in the military and had not shown up for work for a couple days, so someone went to check on him and made the discovery.

"It kind of surprised me. It's really a safe place right here, really safe. But I don't know why it happened," said Jason Nguyen, who lives at the apartment complex.

Several neighbors said they were shocked and worried about what happened.

One said he could not imagine what would be bad enough to take someone else's life or his own.

"Well, life is hard, but it doesn't mean that someone (needs to) kill himself (for) any reason," Aziz Asiri said.

San Antonio police said the circumstances surrounding their deaths are under investigation.

Police are not sure how long the couple had been dead.
