Luck runs out for suspect in illegal Texas Hold Em' operation

Jeremy Stewart, 38, was one of several people rounded up in raid

A Northwest Side man is facing gambling charges after allegedly confessing to being a dealer in an illegal ‘Texas Hold ‘Em' operation. Jeremy Stewart, 38, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of gambling promotion.

Vice detectives with the San Antonio Police Department were acting on a tip when they began watching a home in the 5000 block of Interstate 10 West in June, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

They conducted a raid on Sept. 3 and rounded up ten people, including Stewart, the affidavit stated.

When they executed the search warrant, detectives said they found gambling paraphernalia such as chips, cards, gaming tables and about $3,600.

They said during questioning, Stewart confessed to working as a card dealer in the operation, the affidavit stated.
