Santa Claus hosts Holiday Parade at North Star Mall

Grinch serves as grand marshal of parade

Santa Claus made his annual Black Friday visit to San Antonio on Friday to host his Holiday Parade at North Star Mall.

The parade featured Santa and some of his friends, including mascots, puppies from the Humane Society and the sounds of Christmas music performed by the Lee High School Band.

"We love Christmas and we love being here in San Antonio. We just think it's a wonderful place," Santa said.

Santa also brought Mrs. Claus with him.

"It's so much fun, and to see all the excitement with the kids and to be able to see what Santa does when he is not at the North Pole," Mrs. Claus said.

Santa invited what some people think may be an odd guest for grand marshal of the parade -- the Grinch from Dr. Seuss' "How The Grinch Stole Christmas."

After the parade, the Grinch was asked if he still wanted to steal Christmas.

"Not anymore," he said. "My heart is already grown three sizes. I just like to pretend to steal it."

Santa said he has faith that the Grinch will continue to have a change of heart for Christmas.

"I think he'll find his heart," Santa said. "I think he is going to be doing OK. Just got to give it some time. Sometimes, it takes more time than others."

Santa will be visiting with kids at North Star Mall every day through Dec. 24.

People with pets can take a picture with Santa on Monday's from 6 p.m. until the mall closes.
