Olmos Park officer shoots friend in sex swap argument

Officer Francisco Salazar placed on administrative leave

SAN ANTONIO – One man is hospitalized with gunshot wounds and his friend, an Olmos Park rookie police officer, was placed on administrative leave.

Jesus Guitron, 33, and his friend, Francisco Salazar, an Olmos Park police officer, were involved in an argument over switching sex partners early Saturday morning, according to a San Antonio Police Department report.

The argument escalated into gunfire.

Salazar, 29, pulled his pistol and fired, hitting Guitron twice. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

Salazar was arrested following the shooting and was released on bond.

Olmos Park police Chief Fritz Bohne placed Salazar on administrative leave and said he plans to meet with him later this week.

"It will not have anything to do with the San Antonio Police Department case," Bohne said. "This is strictly to discuss violation of departmental policies."

Bohne said the shooting is a major personal concern.

He said, "To me, it's very embarrassing whenever anybody tarnishes the badge and then we all have to pay for it."

Bohne said Salazar has been on the force since January and was still on probation.
