NISD principal placed on leave

District: Jeffery Davenport at Nora Forester Elementary under investigation

A Northside Independent School District elementary school principal is under investigation after allegations surfaced that he was having an unprofessional relationship with a student and his mother.

According to NISD spokesman Pascual Gonzalez, the student is a 5th-grade boy and his mother is an instructoral aid at Nora Forester Elementary School.

Gonzalez said Principal Jeffrey Davenport, who opened the school in 2008, has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Gonzalez said the allegations of unprofessional behavior has to do specifically with favoritism.

"Somebody also on the same day called from (Child Protective Services) and made the same allegation against the principal," Gonzalez said. "So CPS is investigating. (The district is also) investigating through the HR department and the investigation will take as long as it takes."

"It's something that we need to find out that's for the safety of the kids and for everybody to be at peace," said Roxanna Zajshaw, the mother of a student at the school.

"(Davenport) has a very good reputation the school -- people love him," said Tiffany Ryan, the mother of another student. "(So the news) is very surprising "

The allegations were made Friday, and Davenport was placed on leave on Friday, Gonzalez said.

However, parents at the school on Wednesday said they should have been notified that day.
