New Braunfels PD: Con man posed as Michael Jackson's nephew 'Gepetto'

NBPD: 'Gepetto Jackson' is really Andre Vann, 29

A man who allegedly billed himself as "Gepetto Jackson," a member of superstar Michael Jackson's family, has been arrested in New Braunfels.

The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andre Vann, is being held in the Comal County jail on a warrant out of Massachusetts for larceny.

An Internet search brings up scores of angry postings and news stories about Vann, which state that he is accused of conning people in several states out of thousands of dollars.

In their postings, his accusers said he told them he was Gepetto Jackson--the son of Michael Jackson's brother, Jermaine--and that he promised to help them gain fame or start up a business.

According to an article in the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung, Vann also targeted two local women.

It stated that a 25 year old New Braunfels resident, who is "infatuated" with Michael Jackson, had been communicating with Vann through Facebook, and that he suddenly showed up at her door last Wednesday.

The article stated that the woman's older sister became suspicious after he asked them for money, and conducted an internet search on Vann.

Police went to the women's home in the 1900 block of Round Table on Thursday and found all three parties there, the article stated.

Comal County jail records show officers arrested Vann on the outstanding warrant from Massachusetts, his home state. However, he also is expected to face charges in several other states.
