Mother claims daughter assaulted at school

SAISD issues response to claims

SAN ANTONIO – A West Side mother claims her child was sexually assaulted by a faculty member at Brewer Elementary School.

The woman said she noticed a change in her daughter, a kindergartener, as the school year was coming to an end.

"She kept saying that someone touched her private part and that she no longer wanted to go to school," the woman said. "She started crying and she told me she was afraid that he could hurt her. I repeatedly asked her who it was and she just (kept) crying."

The woman said her daughter was afraid to tell her who assaulted her.

"I am trying to get her some counseling and I would like to see about getting home school for her because I don't (think) she's going to be safe," the woman said.

San Antonio police and San Antonio Independent School District officials were made aware of the allegations.

A spokesperson for SAISD issued this statement in response:

"We have received an allegation regarding inappropriate conduct of a teacher with a student at Brewer Elementary School, which our District Police Department is jointly investigating with the San Antonio Police Department. Because the school year has ended, this teacher currently is not on contract and not working in our schools. We take the safety and well-being of our students very seriously and plan a thorough investigation into the accusation."
