SAN ANTONIO – A deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly strangling his girlfriend, sheriff's officials said.
Christopher John Quinn allegedly strangled his girlfriend on March 6, 2014 at her apartment after an argument.
According to the sheriff's office, she lost consciousness and woke up on the floor with severe head and neck pain.
A relative took her to a local hospital emergency room where she was treated and released.
The sheriff's office was notified of the incident in mid-June.
Tuesday, BCSO investigators were able to cooroborate the allegations and got an arrest warrant from a judge.
Quinn was taken into custody at the BSCO Academy in South Bexar County and was going through the booking process.
Along with the criminal investigation, the BCSO is also conducting an internal investigation, and Quinn has been placed on 10 days administrative leave immediately pending the outcome of both investigations.
Although Quinn has been arrested, the criminal investigation will continue.
Quinn has been a deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office since Nov. 3, 2008. He was assigned to the Sheriff's Academy, where he was going through training to join the Patrol Division.
