3 people including young boy killed in Kerrville crash

Suzuki slams into Chevy pickup after driver loses control

KERRVILLE, Texas – A deadly crash in Kerrville claimed the lives of three people, including that of a 7-year-old boy.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

"It was discovered that a 2000 model Suzuki was headed westbound on Junction Highway and, in changing lanes of traffic, somehow lost control," said Kerrville police spokesman Paul Gonzales.

The Suzuki slammed into a Chevy pickup traveling east.

All three people inside the Suzuki died. The driver was identified as 30-year-old Fabian Perez. A second male passenger has not been identified and won't be until his family is notified.

The third victim was identified as 7-year-old Hector Mendoza Jr.

"It's very difficult investigating any kind of accident where someone loses their life but what makes it more touching in this situation is that a child loses their life," Gonzales said.

The driver of the pickup was OK, and was able to walk away uninjured.

Investigators are currently working to find out what caused the driver of the Suzuki to swerve in to oncoming traffic. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, they said.
