CHARGES: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
THE ALLEGATIONS: On June 22, 2013, a man ran up to a police car saying he needed an ambulance. The officer followed him and found a woman sitting in a car bleeding and holding her stomach. She said she had been stabbed. The woman said one man accused another of looking at his girlfriend. That man pulled out a knife and slashed the rear tire of the car, then walked up to the man and started fighting. Two people attacked the woman, knocking her to the ground and stabbing her 14 times (seven wounds to her left forearm, two to her left thigh, one to her left breast, two to her lower abdomen and two to her left underarm). An officer talked to Cruz on the phone. She said she was camping and not home. Officers found her at her apartment, where she said, "I told them I told you that I was camping and I already came home." An officer noted Cruz had blood on her hands and left ankle/foot.
