Churchill band preps to perform at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

SAN ANTONIO – The Churchill High School band is in New York City Sunday evening, preparing for its performance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Teachers and students left San Antonio International Airport Sunday morning.

Churchill is one of 10 bands chosen to perform out of the hundreds that applied.

The band members found out two years ago that they would be performing in New York City.

"Being like 10 bands going and all the other bands that applied, it's just such an honor to march in the parade. I'm just so blessed to be able to go up there," said drumline captain Sam Isenhart.

Isenhart also said the group plans on doing some sightseeing before Thursday.

The 200-member band will be the only Texas high school in the parade.
