BCSO: Teen wanted in SWAT standoff, shooting arrested

Devonnce Gant, 17, allegedly shot at repo men

SAN ANTONIO – A teenager has been taken into custody in connection with an incident that led to a SWAT team surrounding his Northeast Bexar County home and his entire neighborhood being placed on heightened alert.

Sheriff's detectives caught up with Devonnce Gant, 17, on Saturday and arrested him on a charge of deadly conduct.

An arrest affidavit stated that they believe Gant fired two shots at a couple of men as they attempt to repossess a woman's car outside his home on Dec. 10.

The affidavit stated that the repo men called 911 from a nearby church, saying that someone at a mobile home park in the 6700 block of Walzem Road had shot at them.

Deputies who responded to the call said that they noticed a spent shell casing on the front stoop of the home, then called in a SWAT team, the affidavit stated.

SWAT officers attempted to contact the person inside the home but were unable, the affidavit stated.

They later obtained a search warrant and found a gun under a mattress inside the home, the affidavit stated.

Gant, however, was not there, the affidavit stated. Detectives later obtained a warrant for his arrest.
