Chef Robbie Nowlin adds flair to downtown restaurant

Chef Spotlight: Chef Robbie Nowlin

SAN ANTONIO – "Citrus" can be found inside Hotel Valencia on the river walk and the kitchen is run by Chef Robbie Nowlin.

Chef Nowlin was trained by some San Antonio's top chefs and has since created his own style and flare.

"I think French technique is obviously in my blood but pushing the envelope without scaring people who may be timid to come eat, is where I want the focus to be with the food," said Nowlin.

At Citrus, Nowlin is always changing the menu with the main focus of making costumers happy.

"When you come here you should feel comfortable, but go away with a good memory."

At Citrus, Nowlin provides modern and sleek dishes but he also puts a lot of emphasis on technique.

That technique is something Nowlin believes should be passed along to the next generation of chefs.

As San Antonio continues to grow and attract more chefs, Nowlin who once was trained by the city's top chefs is now one himself.

Not only is Chef Nowlin a part of the next generation of chefs in San Antonio but he also is thrilled to be a part of the growing food scene.

"I think the next generation of cooks is starting to be seen in the scene and that's exciting."
