Shark vacuums recalled for shock hazard

Homelite electric blowers, hair dryers recalled

SAN ANTONIO – From popular vacuum cleaners to pricey hair dryers, several products have been recalled for shock, electrocution or fire hazards.

Four models of Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away series upright vacuums have been voluntarily recalled by Euro-Pro.

Users can be shocked because the aluminum wand can disconnect from the vacuum's handle and remain energized.

The recalled models are either maroon or purple and have a clear plastic middle section. The models  include NV650W, NV651, NV652 and NV660.

They were sold since August at stores including Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Kohl's, Lowes and Target.

Consumers should contact Euro-Pro  (877) 593-5140  to get a free replacement wand.

Electric blower vacuums recalled

Homelite recalled 823,000 electric blower vacuums after more than 1300 reports of the vacuums sparking, arcing, smoking or burning.

The model numbers are UT42120, UT42120A and UT4212J.

These were sold from Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlets since 2010.

Consumers should return them to the store for a refund.

Lenovo recalls Thinkpad battery packs

If you have a Thinkpad notebook computer, you should know Lenovo has expanded its previous recall of battery packs.

The packs can overheat and pose a fire hazard.

The new recall involves about 149,000 battery packs sold with or for the Thinkpads.  For more information on which ones: www.cpsc.gov.

Lenovo has received four reports of batteries overheating and damaging property.

Consumers are advised to contact Lenovo for a replacement. In the meantime, the computer can be used by plugging it in.

Hair dryers sold at ULTA recalled

Thousands of hair dryers sold at ULTA Beauty and other beauty supply stores and salons for the past two years have been recalled.

The handheld dryer is called Sweet Heat. It does not have a protection device to guard against electrocution or shock if it becomes immersed in water.
