Her husband, Daniel Enrique Hernandez, 33, was arrested and charged with murder in her slaying, Bexar County sheriff's officials said.
When deputies arrived to the home, Hernandez came outside with his hands up and said his wife was going to commit suicide because she was suffering from Crohn's disease, an arrest affidavit stated.
Hernandez told investigators his wife asked him to shoot her instead, and he did.
Jody Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bexar County medical examiner said the manner of her death was homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the chest.
