SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office identified 22-year-old Anthony Coronado as the man who was shot and killed at an East Side home Saturday afternoon.
Police said Coronado was having drinks at a home in the 1000 block of Piedmont around 5:30 p.m. when he got into an argument with Nathaniel Wesley Word III, who lives next door.
Ernesto Valera was at the home when the shooting happened. He said Word had hung out with the group in the past.
Valera said he, Coronado and two other people were in the front yard drinking when Word came outside and told them to move.
When the group refused to move, Word went back inside his house and came back with a gun, Valera said.
"We all knew each other. That's why he (Coronado) said, 'Come on Nate, you going to shoot me?'" Valera said.
Police said Word fired multiple shots, hitting Coronado in the head.
Valera called police, who took Word in for questioning. He is now charged with murder.
Valera said it will take time for him to fully move on.
"It's going to be a long process, trust me. But hey, you know, what I can say to Tony's family is, I'm really sorry it happened," Valera said.
Coronado's family members said he was expecting the birth of his son.
