HOUSTON – A maintenance worker hanging from a Houston bridge was successfully rescued Wednesday by the Houston Fire department after the man slipped walking on a catwalk.
KSAT 12's sister station, KPRC in Houston, reports the worker was hanging from the 610 East Loop bridge over the Houston Ship Channel.

KPRC said fire crews arrived at the scene around 4:10 p.m. They said aerials showed the subcontract worker for the Texas Department of Transportation in what appeared to be a harness connected to a rope or wire hanging from underneath the bridge.
KPRC reported the incident had blocked southbound and northbound lanes.
"This is our game time, this is what we train to do," said Captain Mario Gordon to KPRC who led the team of 10 that responded when the call came in.
KPRC said a manhole on top of the bridge allowed firefighters the necessary access. They then used a tripod and pulley system to attach the worker to lines and pull him to the surface.
The Texas Department of Public Safety sent out a tweet about the contractor.
