Jennifer Palacios witnessed the crash, and went to help the girl. “To be there with her and holding her and the way she was breathing. That scared me," she said.

Both teens are Judson High School students.

The collision occurred just after 6 p.m.

"There's no sidewalks! I have two daughters that attend Judson High School. There's a lot of children that walk this way," Palacios said.

The teens were walking in a group of five when a witness said the girl was hit while trying to cross the street near the high school.

Another witness, Aleesha Evans, said the driver tried to stop before the collision.
