San Antonio police are investigating after one of their own officers shot and killed a man Thursday night.
The shooting occurred at the Wood Hollow Apartments near Isom and East Ramsey roads.
Police Chief William McManus said there were several undercover officers watching a person who was wanted on two felony warrants.
One for narcotics and the other for possession of a firearm.
An undercover officer called for a uniformed officer to come make contact with the man at the Wood Hollow Apartments parking lot.
McManus explained what happened in the moments before the shooting. He said the officer told him to put his hands up, the man spun around, and the officer shot once. Chief McManus said they weren’t able to capture video of the incident but they did capture audio.
"The officer says 'Show me your hands' very quickly. And then almost before he even finished saying it, one shot is fired. And it struck the individual in the upper torso," McManus said.
The office involved has been placed on administrative duty.
The name of the man killed has not been released.
