SAN ANTONIO – It has been over two years since San Antonio police Officer Bobby Deckard was fatally shot by two robbery suspects.
"It was at 2 o'clock in the morning when we found out. There was nothing I could do,” his mother Yvonne Whitney said. “He lived for 12 days in a coma."

Family and friends gathered Sunday to honor the fallen officer by playing a game that meant so much to him: football.
Deckard was raised by a single mother, and his uncle Eddie Williams recalled helping raise his nephew.
"Seeing him as a little bitty guy. (I) used to wrestle with him, box with him until he was about 17 or 18 years old. Then he got too big," Williams said.
The officer helped start the San Antonio Public Safety Raiders football team. Sunday’s game was the second annual Robert Bobby Deckard Bowl.
Though known for his competitive spirit, his family also remembers the softer side of Deckard – including the time he paid for a woman’s groceries.
"She was looking at things to put back and Bobby said, ‘Don't worry, I'll pay for that,’" Williams said.
While his mother said she will always remember her son and how he was always there for her.
Two suspects, Shawn Puentes and Jenevieve Ramos have been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault of a peace officer in connection to Deckard death.
