Dispute leads to East Side shooting, police follow trail of blood to find victim

Police say victim ran from scene leaving trail of blood

SAN ANTONIO – A neighborhood dispute led to a shooting in an East Side area with a history of violence.

The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Morningview.

Emergency crews got a call for the shooting, but when they arrived they could not find the victim.

But a trail of blood led from the location all along Morningview, and after about 45 minutes police finally found the wounded man.

They say he'd been shot at least one time in upper body and had lost a lot of blood.

A sergeant on scene said a witness told them a man had shot the victim in an argument, then jumped into a car with a woman driving and took off.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital with what the sergeant described as a non life-threatening wound.

Police continued their search for the shooter Sunday afternoon.

The neighborhood where the attack happened has a history of shootings and crime.

In the past year there have been at least two fatal shootings in that area.
