Widow mourning after husband killed outside popular San Antonio club

Miguel Guerrero killed Sunday morning

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio woman said she is devastated after her husband was killed Sunday morning outside Joe’s Volcano.

Maria Guerrero said it's rare that she and her husband, Miguel, were able to find time to spend a night out on the town together. With five kids at home, ranging in age from a baby to a teenager, their time is limited.

On Saturday night the couple made it out with friends.

Guerrero said at around 11:30 p.m. they went to Joe's Volcano off Ingram Road on the city’s Northwest Side. Inside of the bar, she said, her group had a heated skirmish with another group.

"We had a fight. A physical fight. They took us all out of the club," Guerrero said.

The fight didn't end until someone shot and killed her husband, Miguel Guerrero, in the parking lot.

"He just got shot in his face, and automatically just went down and his eyes -- they were gone,” she said. “He was just bleeding to death in my arms."

The medical examiner's office confirmed that Miguel Guerrero, 34, died as a result of that gunshot wound. San Antonio police said they are looking for three suspects -- two men and a woman -- who they said left in a black Cadillac Escalade.

The young widow said their friend who was also shot alongside her husband was taken to University Hospital where he had surgery.

Guerrero said she believes he is recovering, but her husband's death is surreal.

"I was on my knees asking God to help him. My husband was a kindhearted, hardworking father of five," she said.
