Several police cars lined the area outside of the hospital's emergency room at around 1:30 p.m.That's when a hospital security officer received the phone call that shots had been fired on the fifth floor of the hospital.

While SAPD officers searched the building, the hospital went into lockdown mode, with people inside seeking shelter.

Police said no one on the fifth floor heard any gunshots and officers found no evidence any weapon had been fired.

Authorities said they're trying to identify the person who called in the hoax. That person could face criminal charges in this case.
