Police seek information on deadly shooting outside bar

Victim, 34, found outside Annex bar

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are asking for the public's help and searching for possible surveillance video that might offer clues about two people accused of shooting and killing a man outside the Annex bar on the city’s near North Side.

Officers were in the area when they heard the gunshots around 11 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of San Pedro Avenue.

"So it wasn't a dispatched call. Officers were actually in the area. When they arrived, they located the victim in the parking lot," said Officer Douglas Greene, a public information officer for the San Antonio Police Department.

Greene said the 34-year-old man was shot multiple times.

Officers said the victim worked as a bouncer at the bar and was shot after escorting someone out of the establishment, but Greene was unable to confirm that information.

Based on information from investigators, Greene said it appears that there were two gunmen wearing masks.

"That's our understanding, that the two suspects both were armed and both fired their weapons at the victim," Greene said.

The gunmen were last seen running from the scene. Investigators combed the area but did not find them.

Greene said they’re hoping to find surveillance video or track down other witnesses.

"We know somebody out there knows about this case,” he said. “We're trying to determine exactly what led up to the shooting, if the victim had any type of prior encounter with the suspects."

As of 11 a.m. Monday, the identity of the victim had not been released.
