SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office has identified the name of the older teen killed during a gas station robbery attempt at a convenience store near Potranco and Talley.

Sebastian Salinas, 19, was killed Oct. 29.

Bexar County deputies said Salinas along with 18-year-old Shawn Sorola and 17-year-old Kathleen Mendiola attempted to steal beer from a Nooner's convenience store when the store clerks got into an altercation with the three teens.

Two of the teens were stabbed in the struggle, which eventually came to a halt after a bystander with a concealed handgun license took out his gun.

Sorola and Mendiola now face robbery charges, officials said. As of now, the clerks aren’t facing any charges.

(Original Story)

A beer run ended in violence at a convenience store early Saturday near Potranco and Talley Road. Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies said one man died and two people were arrested after the beer theft escape went bad.

The Sheriff’s Office said the three teens stole some beer from Nooner’s convenience store. The store clerks then tried to get the beer back and got into an altercation with the teens outside of the store.

Two of the teens were stabbed in the struggle, which came to a halt after a bystander with a concealed handgun license took out his gun.

Two of the teens drove off, leaving the third, a 19-year-old man, in the parking lot with a severe leg wound.

Deputies found the teen and he was rushed to University Hospital, where he later died.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle with the other two suspected thieves, 18-year-old Shawn Sorola and 17-year-old Kathleen Mendiola.

Sorola also had knife wounds and was sent to University Hospital.

Sorola and Mendiola face robbery charges. For now, the clerks aren’t facing any charges.

The case will go to the district attorney’s office once the investigation is over.
