SAN ANTONIO – Barbara Gervin-Hawkins' name is one some might recognize. The businesswoman is the sister of former Spurs legend George "Iceman" Gervin. She serves as the CEO of the youth center that bears her brother's name.
Gervin-Hawkins now occupies the seat that longtime representative Ruth Jones McClendon held. A special election resulted in Laura Thompson occupying the chair for McClendon's unexpired term. Gervin-Hawkins won the general election for the full two-year term, which includes the 85th Texas Legislative Session.
