SAN ANTONIO – Something didn't seem right on the 400 block of Cherry Ridge.
Neighbors heard gunshots around 11 p.m. on May 9, 1980, then saw a car belonging to Margaret and Keith Conable speeding down the street.

"The neighbors thought one of the Conables must have taken ill and (they) were driving fast to reach medical care," police said.
Police said a neighbor noticed the next day that the couple's car was gone and went to check on the house.
"The house was open and when the neighbor entered, he found both Margaret and Keith Conable bound and badly beaten to death," police said.
Police said the Conables' 1973 Mercury Montego (pictured below) and CB radios taken from inside the home were never found.
Margaret Conable was 50. Keith was 53.
"Over the years, several leads have been followed up, but the case remains unsolved with no clear-cut motive on why someone would commit such a brutal crime," police said.
SAPD's Cold Case Squad is still investigating the murder.
