No arrests made in 1985 killing of BCSO detention officer

Adrian Aguilar, 21, found dead in San Pedro Creek

SAN ANTONIO – The person who killed a Bexar County Sheriff's Office detention officer has avoided arrest for more than 30 years.

On June 29, 1985, San Antonio police were called to West Martin Street and North Santa Rosa Street for an accident. Instead, what police found was a car in San Pedro Creek.

Detention officer Adrian Aguilar, 21, was found in the driver's seat. He was unconscious and bleeding from the mouth. Police said he was also having trouble breathing. Aguilar was taken to Brook Army Medical Center where he died the next day.

An autopsy later revealed Aguilar died of a gunshot wound to the back.

Aguilar was wearing his BCSO uniform.

"(Aguilar) was reporting back to the jail after originally being assigned to guard a prisoner at the hospital," police said.

SAPD's Cold Case Squad is still investigating the crime.
