SAN ANTONIO – A teacher at KIPP Aspire Academy was fired Thursday, a day after allegations surfaced that he sent inappropriate communications to a student, the school's director of marketing and communications said.
The spokesperson said a parent contacted the school on Wednesday with concerns about messages that his son received on his phone.

The spokesperson declined to describe the nature of the messages, but said the teacher was immediately placed on leave and the school began the termination process.
Information pertaining to the messages was also provided to the San Antonio Police Department, according to the spokesperson.
"Student safety is our number one priority. We hold all of our teachers and staff to high standards of conduct," said KIPP Aspire Academy school leader Bradley Tarrance in a letter sent home to parents Friday.
The spokesperson said the Texas Education Agency has been notified about the incident.
The public charter school, located south of downtown in the 200 block of Stark Street, has close to 500 students in fifth through eighth grades, according to its website.
The academy is one of six KIPP campuses in San Antonio.
