SAN ANTONIO – Brooks Spay/Neuter Clinic, operated by the San Antonio Humane Society, is officially open to the public.
Doors opened Tuesday morning for Southside city residents in search of low-cost spay/neuter and Wellness Clinic services.

The clinic is San Antonio’s newest resource to help fight the city’s pet overpopulation problem and continue the Humane Society’s mission to improve the lives and health of dogs and cats in the community, according to a news release.
It was built in partnership by the municipality and Brooks City Base.
Under the Humane Society’s operation, 5,000 spay/neuter surgeries are expected to be conducted at the Brooks Spay/Neuter Clinic in its first year.
That number is expected to increase to 8,000 surgeries by its third year of operation. In 2016, the Humane Society performed 8,512 spay/neuter surgeries and treated 1,280 dogs and cats during public Wellness Clinics.
The Brooks Spay/Neuter Clinic is off Southeast Military at 8034 City Base Landing. Its hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Please be aware that spay/neuter services are available by appointment only.
Appointments are already booked through the rest of the month, a Humane Society spokesperson said.

Wellness Clinics also will be available, offering vaccinations, microchipping, nail trims, heartworm testing and prevention services, dewormer and feline leukemia testing.
