UVALDE COUNTY, Texas – The Uvalde Fire Marshal confirmed multiple people were killed Wednesday afternoon in crash on Highway 83 near Garner State Park.
DPS confirmed 12 people were killed and three others were injured.
The crash occurred on Highway 83 near Majors crossing, Hernandez said.
Hernandez said multiple first-responding agencies were at the scene.
Sky 12 video shows a van and a truck collided head-on. It is unclear in which vehicles the deceased were in. Video also shows two hearses on the scene. Damage was spread over an area of at least 30 feet wide.
All lanes of the highway are closed between the park and Texas 127 in Concan.
According the First Baptist Church in New Braunfels, the van was carrying seniors who were attending a church retreat. The church has canceled all events for the evening, the post said. The sanctuary will be open for prayer and support.
