HOUSTON – Four people are dead and one injured Friday after a woman opened fire on her family members at three separate locations, police said.
Houston police said they were first called around 7:48 a.m. to 3829 Mount Pleasant Street in southeast Houston on a welfare check where two people were found shot to death and one injured.
According to Houston police, Dekitta Holmes, who police say was the suspected shooter, and her stepfather, Robert Lee Wesley, were found dead. Dekitta's mother, 64-year-old Laverne Holmes, was injured and taken to a hospital. There is no word on her condition.
During that investigation, police said they were called around 10:05 a.m. to the home of Dekitta Holmes on La Salette Street and Mount Pleasant Street for a shooting possibly in connection with the first scene. Police confirmed one man, who has not been identified, was found dead at the house. His relationship to Dekitta Holmes is unknown.
Police said they called the Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies around 11:24 a.m. on a welfare check at a home in Fresno.
"Deputies made entry through a back door, and we had to force it open and we discovered an adult female, black female, deceased inside the residence," Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls said.
Police confirmed Dekitta's sister, Carolyn Holmes, was found shot to death in the home on 4831 Richmond Knolls and Owens lanes.
Authorities are still investigating a motive in the shooting.
