SAN ANTONIO – For anyone who's traveled the highways of Texas, Buc-ee's red-capped beaver with its bucktoothed grin is about as iconic as Whataburger's orange W.

But now, residents outside the Lone Star State will be able to fill up on gas and stock up on Beaver Nuggets, homemade kolaches and beef jerky.

The Lake Jackson, Texas-based gas station chain announced Thursday that it's opening its first-ever store outside Texas in Daytona, Florida.

The mammoth-sized store, whose footprint alone covers more than 50,000 square feet, slightly smaller than a football field, will feature 120 gas pumps, working kitchens and novelty shops, in addition to the usual offerings of snacks and candy sold at gas stations.

The Florida Buc-ee's will be built on a 32-acre site on the north side of LPGA Boulevard, just east of Interstate 95.

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s now operates 32 locations.
