New app to help people learn about candidates

Election Day is fast approaching

SAN ANTONIO – A new app may help you learn more about the candidates before you hit the polls.

Represent SA launched the new tech tool Tuesday and the name is pretty easy to remember.

It's called the Voting App.

People can enter their address and take a look at polling locations and ballots.

They can also check out a video voter guide that shows people 50 of the 80 candidates who are involved in the election to see what they stand for.

"We have a pivotal election and unfortunately low voter turnout in our local elections,” Jeff Cardenas, with Represent SA, said. “So what we want to do is create a tool that's as easy as possible that will allow voters to get to the polls and vote and we want to start here in San Antonio and create a model we can share with other cities across Texas and then across the nation."

The app is available for iPhones, and will be up and running for Androids later this week.

People can also click here for more information. Early voting begins April 24 and Election Day is May 6.
