SAN ANTONIO – Paying it forward -- that is what firefighters from across the state of Texas did Sunday at Fire Station 35. It is the same station where firefighter Scott Deem was stationed before he died battling a fire on Thursday.
Deem, 31, rushed into the four-alarm fire at the Ingram Square Shopping Complex but died when the fire quickly grew out of control.

The firefighters came from cities such as Austin and Houston.
The group cleaned the fire station and some even stayed to help cook dinner.
The Rosary for Deem will take place on Thursday with church services and interment to follow the next day.
The locations for the Rosary and funeral services have not been set.
Deem entered the San Antonio Fire Department on Jan. 3, 2011, and was assigned to Ladder 35 "A" Shift. He graduated from Southwest High School in 2004.

He had been with SAFD for six years.
He leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, a 7-year-old son, Tyler, a 13-year-old daughter, Dakota. Deem and his wife were expecting a baby.
