Memorial services announced for SA firefighter Scott Deem

SAN ANTONIO – Memorial services for firefighter Scott Deem were released Wednesday.

Deem died in the line of duty while battling a fire at a strip mall Thursday night on Ingram Road.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Porter Loring Mortuary at 1101 McCullough Ave.

On Friday, the San Antonio Fire Department will be leading an apparatus procession to Community Bible Church, where a funeral Mass will be held.

"We are anticipating a large group of fire trucks from all over," San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said. "We have had interest from fire departments across the country, and they will be staging their apparatus there starting later on today."

The apparatus procession will leave at 9 a.m. from Alamodome Lot B and will proceed up Highway 281 to the church at 2477 North Loop 1604 East.

The family procession will leave at 11 a.m. from Porter Loring and will pass the Alamo and proceed to the church for the 1 p.m. funeral.

The public is invited to the funeral, but Hood said space and parking will be limited.

At the family's request, the burial will be private.
