SAN ANTONIO – The Harlandale Independent School District paid tribute Monday to 95 former students who died in combat.
Students, staff and community members crowded into STEM Early College High School cafeteria for the district's annual Memorial Day ceremony that honors 95 students.
The names of the students are engraved on the Harlandale Memorial Monument, which was erected in 1971 to pay tribute to former students who died in battle. The names of the soldiers were read aloud during a roll call.
The ceremony was also marked by the presentation of colors by the Harlandale High School Junior ROTC and a rendition of the national anthem by the Harlandale High School choir.
