Defenders Debrief: UTSA Police Use of Force Case

SAN ANTONIO – A UTSA police officer is facing termination, and two of his supervisors have been demoted, after an altercation outside an off-campus apartment in February was never reported to the department's command staff.

As a KSAT 12 Defenders investigation uncovered last night, the footage, instead, was discovered during a review of the officer's interactions with the public.

The man seen in the video being thrown to the ground, then handcuffed, is Jonathan Richardson, 23. He told The Defenders he didn't file a complaint because he didn't believe the department would take it seriously.

Dillon Collier spoke to Mark and Leslie for a GMSA @ 9 Defenders Debrief to talk about the case, including what the officer was doing at the complex in the first place.
