SAN ANTONIO – An inmate who was missing in the Bexar County Jail was found hiding inside the ceiling, authorities said early Thursday.
Steven Lee Guidry, 32, was in the mental health section of the jail when he was unaccounted for starting around 3:45 a.m. Officials said the jailers do counts every 15 minutes and that it was during one of those routine counts that Guidry was noticed missing.
Officials said they originally thought that Guidry might have broken out of the jail. Authorities said they set up a perimeter and had the Eagle helicopter searching the area.
Authorities said they discovered Guidry hiding inside a ceiling and that he never made it to the outside. He was found roughly 2 and half hours later.
Guidry is in jail for aggravated assault and is someone who is considered to be a violent inmate, officials said. Guidry also had been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and now faces an escape charge.
