Authorities recover body of 22-year-old who drowned in Medina Lake

Victim jumped off pier at Bandera County Park, officials say

BANDERA COUNTY, Texas – A rescue turned into a recovery at Medina Lake after a 22-year-old man jumped off of a pier and never resurfaced Tuesday afternoon.

A park ranger told KSAT 12 that the man jumped off a pier at Right Cove within the beach at Bandera County Medina Lake Park and never resurfaced -- all in front of his family.

First responders recovered the man's body after searching for hours.

A man who was on a jet ski at the time of the incident said the man's family asked him to stop because they could not find their relative. The man on the jet ski called authorities for help. 

The area remains closed off to visitors.
