SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot in the head Wednesday evening after what San Antonio police said appeared to be a fight between two families on the city's West Side.
The shooting occurred around 8:20 p.m. near the intersection of El Paso and SW 21st streets.
The victim, 21, was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
Just moments after the shooting it was still an emotional scene, as family members of the victim worried about their loved one.
A sergeant with the San Antonio Police Department said two families who live in the area were feuding, and that as the fight continued more family people from one family kept showing up.
Eventually he says it was 20 people against five or six people, police said.
The victim was in the smaller group.
That is when police believe someone from the larger group pulled out a gun and opened fire.
Nearly two hours after the shooting police still had a portion of El Paso Street closed. The investigation into who pulled the trigger continues.
