SAN ANTONIO – A new bill proposal that would amend the immigration policies for the U.S. is being supported by President Donald Trump.
The Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act, or RAISE Act, would greatly reduce the number of people legally allowed to immigrate to the U.S.

According to the bill’s text, it is meant to “amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to establish a skills-based immigration points system, to focus on family-sponsored immigration on spouses and minor children.”
The proposal also includes eliminating the Diversity Visa Program and setting a limit on the number of refugees admitted into the U.S. every year.
