HOUSTON – A Cypress man who claims to be paying child support for a daughter that's not his is walking from Houston to Austin to raise awareness about paternity fraud.
Gabriel Cornejo said the state claimed he was served papers for child support in 2002, but Cornejo said he never received the papers and the state had the wrong address.

In 2016, Cornejo claims he took a paternity test that proved he was not the father. He said the woman told him she knows he's not the father, but there was a judge's order and the money has to be paid.
Cornejo said he has paid a lot of money in attorney fees and is accused of owing $64,000 in child support for the child.
On Friday, Cornejo began his walk, posting multiple videos on his Facebook page on the first leg of his journey.
"Yes this is difficult... but it's the price I'll pay for anyone who is going through this," Cornejo said while walking in 90-degree heat. "This is what this walk is about -- to show that we are determined to change this law."
In one video, he went live on Facebook at his first rest point -- a Whataburger.
Cornejo started a website called www.enoughabuse.net and a Facebook page.
