SAN ANTONIO – People and organizations around Texas are helping out people and communities affected by Harvey -- one local military family is doing their part.
"This is good stuff, I mean we are helping people out, I would hope people would do the same for me," Mike Tarr said.
Tarr has worked in the military for 25 years and said helping his community is just part of the job. He works with the non profit Wishes for Our Heroes.

The philanthropy usually helps military men and women, but now they are shifting their efforts to help communities impacted by hurricane Harvey.
Tarr and his family loaded up and headed to smaller coastal towns on Sunday -- ones that aren't seeing a lot of Harvey relief.
"In the ground zero areas -- the Rockport, the Woodsboro -- FEMA is not there, Red Cross isn't there yet," Tarr said. "So it's local Texans and local organizations headed down there to help out."

The supplies the Tarr family is taking to the devastated communities are important to try and rebuild. Tarr said there are more on the way thanks to Wishes for Our Heroes and other organizations.
"Monday, or Tuesday we got a truck from Indiana coming down with supplies we cant get in Texas anymore, gas cans stuff we cant get down here," Tarr said.
