All Pollo Tropical restaurants closing in South Texas

Fiesta Restaurant Group cites hurricane impact, limited brand awareness

SAN ANTONIO – Fiesta Restaurant Group says it will close all remaining Pollo Tropical restaurants in San Antonio and South Texas. The company cited the reason as “ongoing uncertainty in south Texas including the effects of Hurricane Harvey and limited awareness of the Pollo Tropical brand.”

In April, the company closed more than two dozen Pollo Tropical locations, including several in San Antonio.

Fiesta, which is also the parent company of Taco Cabana, says a couple of the Pollo Tropical locations in San Antonio may become Taco Cabana restaurants.

There were two Pollo Tropical locations in Houston that never reopened after Hurricane Harvey. Forty-three Taco Cabana locations closed in the Houston area after Hurricane Harvey. All but one restaurant has reopened.
