18-year-old driver killed in New Braunfels rollover crash

Felix Salazar died after losing control of car; passenger survived

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – An 18-year-old driver in New Braunfels was killed in a rollover crash after being ejected from their vehicle overnight.

Felix Salazar of New Braunfels died late Sunday after crashing just before midnight in the 1300 block of Saur Lane.

Officials said Salazar was driving a 2008 Acura TL with a female passenger inside when he lost control and crashed into the tree and fence line on the left side of the roadway causing the vehicle to roll end over end multiple times. The vehicle came to a stop upside down on the right side of the roadway, police said.

When officers arrived on scene they found debris scattered across both lanes and both ditches along the roadway.

The passenger told officers that Salazar had been ejected and she did not know where he was. Officers and medics started searching the area and found him deceased.

Authorities said they believe the car was going at a very high rate of speed and went air-born after going through a low water crossing.

NBPD Traffic Unit responded and is investigating the crash.  No charges are expected to be filed.
